Wander ran, choking out a small “excuse me” whenever he ran into someone. His throat felt constricted and his eyes stung with tears. He continued to run till he found his way to the forest near the small village they were in. He found a small clearing and he collapsed in on himself, curling into a tiny ball and sobbing heavily into his knees.

He couldn’t do it… He couldn’t help someone and the realization that not everyone could be helped finally set in…

"WANDER!" She kept following the pitter-patter of the nomad’s shoes The sound was coming from the forest, and she made her way there. The wind blowing in her mane, she couldn’t see where her buddy was. "WANDERRRR!" She called again. Her midnight eyes moved towards the orange ball on the ground with the tears dripping from his eyes.

”..Wander.” Her voice soften while approaching him.

He stiffened, trying to stop himself from shaking. He pulled his hats brim down to cover his tear filled eyes. He didn’t want Sylvia to see him so down… He was the happy one… The one who tried to spread all the joy he could…

He kept pulling at his hat brim till the entire hat was pulled over his head. He curled his toes up in his shoes. It was a nervous habit he had and often did it when he was upset.

He shook his head inside his hat and said something that fell incoherent to Sylvia’s ears.

"Wander. Please. Speak to me.” Sylvia knelt down next to him. Placing both her hands on his shoulders. He didn’t response to her, and kept his hat over his eyes. Her eyes moved up and down at the nomad and tried to hold back tears. When he cried, she had to as well. “Buddy. Tell me now. I need to know what’s up with you!”

"I…" He tried to form a sentence but it fell into a sob. He shook and continued curling in on himself until there is no more space to curl up into.

"I-It hurts S-Syl.."

Sylvia reached for the soft blanket from her back, and wrapped it around his orange body. “I know pal. It’s just two people you couldn’t help…” Her words stopped. “…There’s more out in the galaxy that need our help.” She rubbed his shoulders gently.

Sylvia’s last sentence sent a small pang of anger shoot through Wanders tiny frame. He didn’t know how to handle it… He wasn’t used to feeling any sort of agitation.

"No S-Sylvia…" Wander said, letting the hat pop back up into place on his head. He pulled the blanket tighter around himself… "I’m a failure… I… I m-made it my m-mission to-" he paused to sniffle and wipe at his nose "- help e-everyone…" He sobbed quietly into the warm blanket.

Turning his head upward to look dead into Sylvia’s tearful eyes with his red rimmed ones.

"I f-failed…"

Her eyes started to tear up more. “Wander…” Getting even more closer to him. “H-How..could you…say that?” Her whole body dropping to the ground.

"I p-promised myself t-that I-I would do everything t-that I c-could to h-help everyone…" His face clenched in emotional pain and he tried to hold back newly formed tears…

"I c-couldn’t do it… I f-failed…" He removed his grip on the blanket to sob into his hands. The blanket soon fell to the ground around his small form, which seemed smaller when he was upset.

The zbornak couldn’t believe he would easily give up like this. This wasn’t the Wander she knew. Her midnight eyes started to drip down with tears. Trying hard not to raise her voice, she clenched her fists. “WANDER. I-I can’t believe you’d just…GIVE UP.” Raising her arms in the air. “Y-You can’t!” The more she yelled at him, the more tears poured from her eyes.

Darkness hazed over Wander’s bright cyan eyes. He rubbed his hands down his face in an attempt to remove any tears. Depression quickly set in on the small orange Nomads heart.

"What’s the point?"

"The point is that you’re Wander!" She put her hands on his chin and turned him around. "You can do anything! One mistake isn’t enough to GIVE UP!" The tear drops from her eyes started to fall on the orange nomad’s body.

Wander stared, eyes as dead and lifeless as his current emotional state. He felt so worthless and it took a heavy toll on him.

"I failed…" He said, voice quiet as he pulled himself away from his friend. He bolted to his feet, sudden anger twisting at his heart.

"I failed…" He clenched his fists…

"I…" He ripped his hat off his head and threw it on the ground. The world around him fell into silence. He huffed out some air.

She felt the whole universe stop, and nothing but the sound of the wind. She couldn’t stop crying. Eventually the zbornak’s head dropped to her knees and burried herself there. She murmured something from the position she was in. “..Y-You…c-can’t.”

Wander stood there, completely oblivious to the breakdown occurring behind him. He was too occupied with his own thoughts… Too occupied with the battle within himself.

He kept yelling back and forth inside. His heart kept telling him to ignore the one time he couldn’t help and move on while his mind kept telling him to give up and not even bother trying anymore. His head throbbed and his heart ached. He couldn’t figure out what to do…

A loud sob pulled him out of his trance and he turned his head, looking out of the corner of his eye to spot his best friend collapsed on the ground in a sobbing and tearful mess. He felt guilt wash over him. It was his fault… His fault that she was like this. The tears that were lingering in his eyes multiplied and spilled over…

"S-Syl?" He said, turning with a shaky, outstretched hand. He attempted to rub down Sylvia’s pink mane, something he often did when she would get upset, but only managed to trip and fall into the blue Zbornak, managing to hug her in a very messy and uncomfortable way.

"W-Wander…" She felt the touch of her buddy. "Y-You…" Her head moved up towards him. Looking him straight in the eye with her bloodshot eyes. Pushing the tears back into her eyes.

"W-Why…would you." She sighed. Rubbing her head into his chest.

He sobbed, shaking his was back and forth.
